Columbia University student sues US government
In the United States, Columbia University student Yunso Chung has filed a lawsuit against the administration of President Donald Trump over his government's attempted deportation.
According to The Guardian, 21-year-old Chung has been participating in pro-Palestinian demonstrations on the university grounds since 2023.
However, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a warrant for his arrest and began the process of revoking his residency status in the country.
Chung called the government's actions "an astonishing abuse of power" and decided to defend his rights in court.
Prior to this, on March 8, ICE also arrested former Columbia University graduate Mahmoud Khalil on the orders of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
He was accused of "activities related to HAMAS" due to his active participation in pro-Palestinian demonstrations, but no official evidence was provided.
